As a mean to the ongoing dissemination and improvement of virtual reality hard and software, there is an increasing expectation on their grade of immersion. A crucial part of immersive virtual environments is 3D-audio, which can be created through auralization in a high quality fashion. Classical auralization approaches are limited to virtual scenes with but a few sound sources, due to hardware limitations. In this thesis a novel clustering approach is proposed, that enables numerous sound sources to be rendered in real-time, by merging sources that are spatially related. As this causes usually errors in the localization cues, a method to adjust the time difference between the left and the right ear is proposed. In addition, a freely available implementation is given, that is ready-to-use and can be extended with future improvements.
