SUMMARY:Lachenmayr: Applied room acoustics - How to build a concert hall
DESCRIPTION:The building of a concert hall is a process of many aspects and stages – some of which have to do with acoustics. In this talk we will share insights from Müller-BBMs’ extensive experience in the topic by means of a project case study: Musikzentrum Bochum. The various acoustic planning stages within a given project framework are explained and the process up to a new cultural complex with an excellent symphonic hall is followed. With the aid of acoustic planning tools such as parametric design and measurement tools such as model absorption tests we increase the degree of detail and quality step by step. Finally\, inauguration day reveals the acoustic achievements. Listening\, measuring\, assisting the performers and some politics are key components here.
