SUMMARY:Gierden: Praxissemester with AQ Solutions
DESCRIPTION:I conducted my internship at the company AQ Solutions which produces medical implants. It focuses on prostheses for revision surgery\, including standard as well as patient specific implants which are all produced using additive manufacturing. I was part of a project concerning patient specific hip prostheses. My task included the automation of two finite-element-analyses (FEA) for preclinical testing according to the two standards ISO 7206-4:2010 and ISO 7206-6:2013. They describe how to determine the endurance properties of stemmed femoral components of total hip joints under specified conditions. SUMMARY:Schmeling: Internship with fka GmbH\, Aachen
DESCRIPTION:The internship was performed in the Human-Machine-Interaction group within the “Automated Driving” business area and deals with two main projects. The first project deals with the development of a system for objective ergonomic evaluation of HMI steering concepts using 3D-cameras (Microsoft Kinect)\, computer vision and body tracking. The main task of the second project was the hard- and software development of an Arduino-based controller for hands-on-detection in the steering wheel of a simulator car.
