SUMMARY:Tan: Examining Inter-Individual Differences between Hearing-Aid-Related Transfer Functions
DESCRIPTION:Head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) describe the filter process of the incident sound caused by reflection\, refraction\, diffraction and interference with the ear for a random source position in space to one of both ears. Similarly\, hearing aid-related transfer functions (HARTFs) describe the sound path to the built-in microphones of a hearing aid device\, e.g.\, behind the ear (BTE). HARTFs are suited for example for medical usage such as hearing aid fitting. It is known that individual HRTF is sensitively affected by different factors such as listener’s head\, size and the shape of both ears. Various distance metric could be used to discuss the inter-individual differences.\nThe aim of this thesis is to determine the differences between varied hearing aid-related transfer functions (HARTFs) from the IHTA-indHARTF database. For reference\, the results will be contrasted with a complementary HRTF evaluation. Subsequently\, the necessity of individualized HARTFs will be discussed depending on the results. Implications for the design of a dummy head for HARTFs will be further discussed. \nMelden Sie sich hier an um Einladungen zu den Kolloquium-Vorträgen per E-Mail zu erhalten.\nRegister here to receive the invitations to colloquium talks via e-mail. \nZoom-Meeting-ID: 997 1547 7344\nPasswort: 617240

SUMMARY:Frankenbach: Sound field synthesis\, extrapolation and introduction
DESCRIPTION:I am a new doctoral candidate at the BMW Group & IHTA and I will give an overview of my past research. During my bachelor’s thesis at FAU in Erlangen\, I worked on sound field synthesis in rooms with a loudspeaker array\, employing a pressure matching approach in order to reproduce a desired sound field in a sound zone. During my internship with Bang & Olufsen and my master’s thesis\, I worked on sound field extrapolation in rooms from continuous measurements. Thereby\, a theoretical framework has been introduced\, where a continuous measurement has been defined as the full waveform of a multidimensional bandlimited signal on a bounded region and an iterative extrapolation scheme has been proposed. \nMelden Sie sich hier an um Einladungen zu den Kolloquium-Vorträgen per E-Mail zu erhalten.\nRegister here to receive the invitations to colloquium talks via e-mail. \nZoom-Meeting-ID: 997 1547 7344\nPasswort: 617240
