SUMMARY:Schwachtgen: Validation of Novel Determination Methods for Acoustic Material Parameters
DESCRIPTION:Adequate room acoustic conditions are crucial for creating comfortable communication\, learning\, or working environments. While acoustic simulations are an established tool for the prediction of the acoustic conditions in a room\, the input data describing the acoustic properties of the surfaces and objects in rooms comes with uncertainties. In this thesis work\, standardized and non-standardized methods to determine the acoustic characteristics of porous materials are compared for combined finite element and hybrid geometrical acoustic simulations. The impacts of differently determined data on simulated results are analyzed. For this purpose\, the reverberation chamber and the alpha cabin as test rooms are equipped with different porous absorbing materials for investigation. First\, room acoustic measurements are conducted in the empty rooms. Corresponding simulation models are then created and fitted to the measurements by adjusting the boundary conditions. Subsequently\, different material configurations are introduced into the real spaces and into the virtual models\, which are then measured or simulated respectively.
