SUMMARY:Frederike Rust: Breathing Rate Detection Using High-Pressure Sensors in Compressed-Air Breathing Apparatus
DESCRIPTION:Firefighting is physically highly demanding\, possibly inducing severe health risks. Hence\, monitoring vital parameters of firefighters at the scene is desirable. In this internship at Dräger it was assessed how accurately the breathing rate can be estimated using the pressure sensor of a compressed-air breathing apparatus. \nDifferent algorithms for estimating the breathing rate were developed and improved. The quality of the estimation using these algorithms was first evaluated in simulations. Afterwards\, breathing signals were measured with a compressed-air breathing apparatus and an active servo lung.
