{"id":3482,"date":"2025-05-07T11:02:59","date_gmt":"2025-05-07T09:02:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/akustik\/?p=3482"},"modified":"2025-05-07T11:02:59","modified_gmt":"2025-05-07T09:02:59","slug":"research-results-on-acoustic-directivity-patterns-of-road-traffic-vehicles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/akustik\/research-results-on-acoustic-directivity-patterns-of-road-traffic-vehicles\/","title":{"rendered":"Research results on acoustic directivity patterns of road-traffic vehicles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America (JASA), a research paper by our former research assistant Christian Dreier and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.akustik.rwth-aachen.de\/cms\/Institut-fuer-Hoertechnik-und-Akustik\/Das-Institut\/Team\/TA-Team\/~dzus\/Vorlaender\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prof. Michael Vorl\u00e4nder<\/a> was recently published: <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1121\/10.0036382\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Speed-dependent directivity patterns of road-traffic vehicles<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This paper explores the spatial and speed-dependent directivity patterns of various road-traffic vehicles, including electric, hybrid, and combustion-powered models. By employing time-variant wave backpropagation on microphone array signals, the research reveals significant insights into how driving conditions and engine characteristics influence vehicle noise emissions. The findings are compiled in an open-access database (<a href=\"http:\/\/doi.org\/10.5281\/zenodo.14142914\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/doi.org\/10.5281\/zenodo.14142914<\/a>), providing valuable data for noise mapping and auralization applications.
