A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0144861724012499\">joint study<\/a> with the research group led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chitoscience.com\/\">Dr. Sabine Gruber<\/a> from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uibk.ac.at\/de\/\">University of Innsbruck<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fh-campuswien.ac.at\/index.html\">FH Campus Vienna<\/a> shows how biological waste from BSF production can be processed into bioactive chitosan using environmentally friendly enzymatic processes. This chitosan has strong antifungal properties and improves the germination and disease resistance of plants such as sugar beet. It therefore offers an environmentally friendly alternative to chemical fungicides and chitosan, which is obtained from crescent shells.
