SUMMARY:[:de]Contact - Dein digitaler Einblick ins Studium der Elektrotechnik[:en]Contact - your digital insight into the study of electrical engineering[:]
DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in technology and do you enjoy mathematical and scientific questions\, but don’t yet know what to do after graduating? \nAt our online advisory event “Contact – your digital insight into the study of electrical engineering”\, we cordially invite students and prospective students to learn more about our study programs\nElectrical Engineering and Information Technology (B.Sc.) as well as our new study program Computer Engineering (B.Sc.). \nTake the opportunity to ask our student advisors all the questions that concern you and help you to make a decision about your studies. \nAll the answers to questions that come up in the event\, along with additional informative video content\, will be compiled for event participants and made available until 04.07.2021.

DESCRIPTION:Probing Ultrafast Spin Transport with Terahertz Electromagnetic Pulses\nTo take advantage of the electron spin in future electronics\, spin angular momentum needs to be transported and detected. Electric fields and temperature gradients have been shown to efficiently drive spin transport at megahertz and gigahertz frequencies. \nHowever\, to probe the initial elementary steps that lead to the formation of spin currents\, we need to launch and measure transport on much faster\, that is\, on femtosecond time scales. This goal is achieved by employing both ultrashort optical and terahertz electromagnetic pulses. \nWe show that this experimental strategy provides new insights into important spintronic phenomena such as the spin Seebeck effect\, spin-to-charge-current conversion and anisotropic magnetoresistance. Interesting photonic applications such as the efficient generation of ultrashort terahertz electromagnetic pulses will also be addressed. \nFor further information visit the event website.

SUMMARY:Kang: Designing Soundscape in urban open public spaces: a framework and potentials
DESCRIPTION:Jian Kang\nBartlett School of Environment\, Energy and Resources\nUniversity College London \nThis talk explores putting soundscape into the intentional design process\, by proposing a soundscape design framework for urban open public spaces\, including four key components: characteristics of each sound source\, acoustic effects of the space\, social/demographic aspect of the users\, and other aspects of the physical conditions. The potentials of designing methods for the four key components\, namely sounds\, space\, people and environment\, will then be explored. Design tools/models for soundscape in urban open public spaces will also be presented\, as well as soundscape design examples. \nRegister here to receive the invitation to this talk via E-Mail. \nZoom-Meeting-ID: 926 6519 6320\nPasswort: 849626

SUMMARY:Smart Wearables for Biomedical Applications
DESCRIPTION:Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) and RWTH Aachen University (RWTH Aachen) have been holding joint workshops annually since 2019. Going forward\, we will separately be holding two- to three-hour mini-workshops on themes of interest to our two universities. In the first mini-workshop\, six speakers will present research under the theme Smart Wearables. \nAs travel between Germany and Japan continues to be restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic\, the mini-workshops will be held online. Please join us for these very convenient opportunities to share information and exchange opinions. We hope that this online workshop will further strengthen the research cooperation between Tokyo Tech and RWTH and continue the fruitful exchange. \nThis workshop is organized by Tokyo Tech ANNEX Aachen and the RWTH Aachen University Profile Areas.
