Among this year<span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">&#8216;<\/span>s recipients are Maxim Christian Maria M\u00fcllender, Master of Science, from the Institute of High Voltage Equipment and Grids, Digitalization and Energy Economics and Laurids Schmitz, Master of Science, from the Institute for Power Electronics and Electrical Drives. Both winners were recognized due to their excellent master<span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">&#8216;<\/span>s theses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Funding for research and teaching<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The name of the foundation goes back to the Prussian crown prince and later Emperor Friedrich Wilhelm III., who founded a polytechnic institute in the Rhine province in 1858 using a donation from the Aachen and Munich fire insurance companies. In doing so, he laid the foundation for both the Rheinisch-Westf\u00e4lische Technische Hochschule and the Friedrich Wilhelm Foundation, which is founded 1865 by the legal predecessor of today<span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">&#8216;<\/span>s Aachener und M\u00fcnchener Beteiligungsgesellschaft.
