The visit focused on the station in Meerbusch-Osterath, a key component of the Ultranet project and Germany&#8217;s first multi-terminal HVDC link. A significant technical feature of this site is the first-ever joint transmission of direct and alternating current on a single pylon in Germany. As part of a planned bipole system, the converter station will facilitate the conversion between AC and DC, with a DC cable connection extending toward Emden.
