Das Hauptziel dieses Besuchs war die finale Ausarbeitung des Antrags f\u00fcr ein deutsch-indisches Graduiertenkolleg.<\/p>\n<p>Das IIT Madras z\u00e4hlt zu den f\u00fchrenden Universit\u00e4ten f\u00fcr Ingenieurswissenschaften in Indien. Gegr\u00fcndet wurde das IIT Madras im Jahr 1959 mit Unterst\u00fctzung der damaligen Regierung Westdeutschlands. Die Vereinbarungen hierzu wurden 1956 bei einem Treffen zwischen Jawaharlal Nehru und Konrad Adenauer getroffen. Der Campus des IIT Madras erstreckt sich \u00fcber 2,5 km\u00b2 und ist sehr bewaldet. Fr\u00fcher war er Teil des Guindy Nationalparks. Die meisten Studierenden und Angestellten haben ihren Wohnsitz ebenfalls auf dem Campus, welcher sich unter Naturschutz befindet.
