<\/a>Source: Unsplash<\/a><\/p><\/div><\/p>\n The RDM Team invited to the second open meeting of the Research Data Management (RDM) network this year on February 9, 2022 online via Zoom. The two originally planned presentations had to be cancelled due to illness, but the RDM team showed spontaneity and presented the plans for the new FDM continuing education concept at RWTH to the data stewards, RDM officers and RDM interested parties.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Before the new ideas were presented, the participants were given a brief overview of the current course programme, which basically consists of a two-hour overview (RDM I<\/a>) and a one-day in-depth workshop (RDM II). Due to the increasing awareness of RDM, the multitude of newly emerging (subject-specific) offers, the increased digitisation of events and recently declining numbers of participants in the RDM II workshop, the RDM team now wants to make adjustments.<\/p>\n In addition to expanding the range of topics, the goal is to create more modularity, more flexibility and even more space for live demos, hands-on exercises and subject-specific best practices. Accordingly, the RDM team wants to move away from the one-day in-depth workshop and deal more specifically with individual topics in the form of modules that stand side by side on an equal footing. With the shorter formats, the programme should above all become more attractive and more flexibly accessible. Furthermore, there should be a date for the modules that can be reliably planned. For this purpose, alternating with the RDM network meeting , the fourth Wednesday of the month from 10am to 12 noon has been envisaged.<\/p>\n The participants in the RDM network know the challenges of the researchers on site and offer their own, target group-specific trainings. Their involvement at this early stage of planning should help to focus energies and create a practice-oriented RDM training for the entire RWTH. In breakout sessions, ideas were collected for a training programme that those responsible for RDM could imagine for “their” researchers. In addition to topics and practical examples, ideas, wishes and challenges in implementation were also recorded on a miro-board prepared beforehand by the RDM team.<\/p>\n The ideas were then discussed in plenary. Among other things, the possibilities of Jupyter notebooks<\/a> as well as potential training material for software and practical teaching were discussed together.
