As part of its initiative innOsci – Forum for Open Innovation Culture<\/a>, the Stifterverband<\/a> is announcing the Open Data Impact Award for the third time. The initiative aims to make Open Data in science more visible and strengthen it. The cooperation partner is DUZ – Magazin f\u00fcr Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft<\/a>. A funding amount totalling 30,000 euros will be provided.<\/p>\n

The potential of Open Data<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Stifterverband sees great innovation potential in Open Data and writes<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Everyone benefits from the re-use of research data: academia, when data sets can be reviewed and further developed by other researchers. But society also benefits when innovations emerge from data.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

 <\/p>\n

In practice, however, Open Data is not yet lived everywhere for various reasons. Obstacles include insufficient resources, existing reputation mechanisms and a lack of knowledge. With the Open Data Impact Award, the Stifterverband would like to motivate researchers to make their data available for open use and also offer an incentive to re-users to further develop this innovative data.<\/p>\n
