The teaching project “FAIRThesis<\/a>” by Prof. Sonja Herres-Pawlis<\/a> (RWTH Aachen University) and Dr. Nicole Jung (KIT) receives funding from the Chemical Industry Fund<\/a> (FCI). The project not only ensures a deepening in the field of Research Data Management (RDM) but also enables master and bachelor students to use the electronic laboratory journal Chemotion<\/a> for research and final theses.<\/p>\n

Digitization in Chemical Education<\/span><\/h3>\n

The FAIRThesis project, which will start in November 2022, is intended to further expand the funding priority “Establishing aspects of digitization in chemical\/chemical engineering education”. The focus is on the digitization of research data from final theses as well as from research internships. The project also focuses on FAIR data (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).<\/p>\n

FAIR data requires that the research data be in machine-readable (digital) form. In addition, students will gain in-depth knowledge of research data management and electronic laboratory journals such as Chemotion, which is a best practice example of holistic research management. These skills are essential for doctoral studies and later professional practice in times of digitization.<\/p>\n

How can I use Chemotion?<\/span><\/h3>\n

Those who would like to try Chemotion and are interested in using the electronic laboratory journal for their research and final theses can register via the e-mail address chemotion@ac.rwth-aachen.de<\/a> and request activation. For this purpose, please provide your name, the institution and the project (bachelor’s or master’s thesis).<\/p>\n

The structure editor ChemDraw is activated for RWTH members in Chemotion. In addition to ChemDraw, the structure editor Ketcher is available for external users and for RWTH members.<\/p>\n
