E. Grünwald

The RDM team from RWTH Aachen University was represented at the International Congress on Materials Science and Engineering (MSE)! Well, at least partially: we were represented there by members of the Materials Science and Engineering Consortium of the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI-MatWerk for short) of the IT Center of RWTH Aachen University. We have recorded our impressions of the MSE Congress in this article.

The MSE Congress is one of the leading events in the field of materials science and engineering in Europe and beyond. Organized by the German Society for Materials Science (DGM), the biennial congress is more than just a conference: it is a celebration of innovation and inspiration. Typically attended by over 1,200 delegates from all over the world, the congress welcomes a different host country each year; this year it was Sweden, considered a beacon in materials science. The congress took place in Darmstadt, Germany, from 24 to 26 September and featured a packed programme.

From plenary lectures by visionary thinkers to insightful keynote speeches, appealing poster sessions and the legendary and eagerly awaited MSE party, there was something for everyone. Attendance was both face-to-face and virtual, with a strong emphasis on networking, sharing and collaborating to shape the future of materials.

Digital transformation was also given enough importance and space, to be given its own theme: D – Digital Transformation. As representatives of NFDI-MatWerk, we were of course not to be missed there!

The consortium as a whole was well represented with several talks, various posters and the NFDI-MatWerk stand with lots of information and merchandise and was able to raise awareness of digital transformation and present our work and support for researchers in countless discussions.

Conclusion

Not only was the congress itself a complete success for the consortium, but the keen interest in our content also underlines the importance of digital transformation in today’s research. The valuable exchange of ideas at the NFDI-MatWerk stand has also led to many new ideas and dynamics in internal communication. We look forward to sharing some of these here on the RDM blog in the future.

Responsible for the content of this article is Katharina Grünwald.

This entry is only available in Deutsch.
