This diverse group included PhD students, postdocs, and researchers who work with experimental and simulation data. Over three days, they immersed themselves in intensive sessions, hands-on workshops, and lively discussions about Research Data Management (RDM) in materials science and engineering.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #00549f;\"><strong>Highlights of the Event Included:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>A keynote by Prof. Stefan Sandfeld from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fz-juelich.de\/en\">Forschungszentrum J\u00fclich<\/a> on the role of AI in materials research.<\/li>\n<li>Introductions to RDM fundamentals, metadata management, and digital lab workflows.<\/li>\n<li>Interactive sessions on Python tools, PyIron, and Electronic Lab Notebooks.<\/li>\n<li>A guided lab tour at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muw.rwth-aachen.de\/cms\/materialwissenschaft-und-werkstofftechni\/die-fachgruppe\/institute-und-lehrstuehle\/~uhy\/institut-fuer-metallkunde-und-metallphysi\/?lidx=1\">Institute of Physical Metallurgy and Metal Physics<\/a> (IMM), showcasing practical implementations of digital workflows.<\/li>\n<li>Social events, including a tour of Aachen, which helped participants network actionable insights shared throughout the program. The event was organized by Ms. Katharina Gr\u00fcnwald (RWTH Aachen\/IT Center), Dr. Flavio Soldera (Universit\u00e4t des Saarlandes\/EUSMAT), and Dr. Pranav Nayak (Universit\u00e4t des Saarlandes), in close collaboration with NFDI-MatWerk.<\/p>\n<p>The success of the Spring School highlights the importance of FAIR research data practices, and the growing community of materials scientists dedicated to open science.
