On the occasion of the Research Data Day <\/a> (TdF) on November 18, 2025, we would like to give you a preview of our \u201cRDM Practice \u201d and \u201cRDM Services \u201d arenas. These are worth venturing into on Research Data Management (RDM) Day. In this article, you will get a preview of Coscine and AIMS at TdF! Meet the people behind Coscine and AIMS and learn more about the latest developments of the two RDM platforms.<\/p>\n Join us at TdF, engage in dialogue with the contributors, and take advantage of the networking opportunities with other RDM members!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Coscine<\/a> is the RDM platform for your research project, developed to support researchers in implementing FAIR principles in their everyday research work. The platform makes it easy to organize research data on a project basis: appropriate metadata, clearly defined access rights, and a connection to DataStorage.nrw ensure traceability and security. All project partners, including those outside RWTH Aachen University, can easily access project data using their university account or ORCID. The platform also ensures long-term archiving of project results for ten years after the end of the project.<\/p>\n AIMS<\/a> stands for \u201cApplying Interoperable Metadata Standards\u201d is a DFG-funded research project and a sub-service of Coscine. It deals with the modeling of metadata for research data and enables the creation of RDF<\/a>-compliant metadata profiles based on SHACL<\/a>.<\/p>\n With AIMS, researchers can:<\/p>\n For more information, please visit the AIMS website<\/a> and the Coscine documentation<\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Coscine team looks forward to seeing you at the IT Center of RWTH Aachen University with a poster presentation. Learn more about the current features and further developments of the RDM platform. You can look forward to exciting insights, informal exchanges, and a playful contribution to the topic.<\/p>\n The AIMS team is planning a short demo showing how AIMS metadata profiles can be created and integrated into RDM systems such as Coscine. The current AIMS interface with its most important functions will be presented. The aim is to illustrate the practical benefits of interoperable metadata models and show how the RDM service supports researchers in implementing the FAIR principles. You will have the opportunity to ask questions or give direct feedback to the team!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The motto encourages us to talk not only about principles, but also about the structure, technologies, and rules that enable FAIRness. Coscine and AIMS are not isolated tools, but a well-thought-out setup for RDM:<\/p>\n Coscine takes on the role of the playing field: it provides the framework in which FAIR principles<\/a> can be implemented in practice \u2013 through data integration, PID assignment, metadata linking, and secure storage.<\/p>\n AIMS provides tactical fine-tuning: it supports the implementation of FAIR principles, in particular by promoting the interoperability and reusability of metadata. In addition, the use of standardized FAIR-compliant metadata profiles enables more efficient use of Coscine.<\/p>\n If you have any further questions, Dr. Kseniia Dukkart, Katja Jansen, and Mich\u00e8le Robrecht will be happy to answer them on November 18, 2025, in Aachen.
