DESCRIPTION:From March 17 to 18\, 2025\, from 9am to 5pm each\, a practical Python workshop will take place in Aachen\, organized by NFDI4Microbiota and the Rhine-Ruhr Center for Scientific Data Literacy (DKZ.2R). This workshop is aimed at PhD students and researchers who want to expand their programming skills. The event provides an introduction to Python 3\, including working with variables\, data types\, pandas for data analysis and Matplotlib for visualizations. \nParticipants will learn not only programming basics\, but also practical applications for their research. The workshop fosters a collaborative learning environment and is open to all interested parties\, although members of the DKZ.2R and NFDI4Microbiota consortium have priority registration. \nRequirements: Participants must bring a laptop with Mac\, Linux or Windows operating system (no tablets or Chromebooks) with administrative privileges and install specific software packages listed here. \nYou can register here: Link to registration

Organized by the NFDI-MatWerk consortium in cooperation with renowned partners such as Forschungszentrum Jülich and various RWTH institutes\, the event is aimed at doctoral students\, postdocs and advanced master’s students in the fields of materials science and engineering. \nParticipants will gain comprehensive knowledge of digitization solutions and research data management\, learn how to effectively organize\, store and share data\, and exchange ideas with experts. \nRegistration is open until March 15\, 2025\, although the number of participants is limited. DESCRIPTION:Source: Coscine  \nOn 25 August 2025\, an online workshop on Coscine will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The research data platform supports researchers in managing their data in a structured manner\, creating projects and storing data securely – and much more than just storage space. \nIn the workshop\, which is part of the modular advanced training series RDM II\, participants will learn in a practical way how they can use Coscine to make research data findable\, accessible and sustainable in accordance with the FAIR criteria (Findable\, Accessible\, Interoperable\, Reusable). \nThe workshop is aimed at doctoral candidates\, postdocs and research assistants who would like to deepen their knowledge of research data management. \nPrerequisite is basic knowledge of research data management\, which can be acquired\, for example\, in the Moodle course ‘Research Data Management – an Overview (RDM I – online)’. \nParticipation is free of charge. The community format is dedicated to practical Research Data Management tools and is aimed at researchers\, data stewards\, and anyone else who is interested\, regardless of their level of experience. \nThe focus is on interactive hands-on sessions in which various applications are tried out and discussed together. The program covers topics ranging from data management planning and documentation to analysis and collaborative working methods within the RDM community. \nRWTH Aachen University will also be represented with several contributions. Among other things\, Coscine\, RDMO\, ROOT Tools\, and Python-based workflows will be presented. In addition\, RWTH staff will present a contribution on knowledge exchange and peer-to-peer structures within the community. \nThe event offers the opportunity to gain practical experience with RDM tools\, network with other institutions\, and gain new inspiration for your own work context.
