SUMMARY:[:en]NHR4CES - CFD Training Series: Introduction to Finite Element Methods for Flow Problems[:]
DESCRIPTION:Name: CFD Training Series: Introduction to Finite Element Methods for Flow Problems \nDate: 29.04.2025\, 01.00 pm – 05.00 pm \nFormat: Online \nMore Information & Register \n  \n\n  \nDescription\n\n\nShort abstract:\n\nIn this course\, we cover various techniques to solve fluid flow problems using the finite element method. Topics of numerical instabilities that result from the underlying formulation will be presented. Furthermore\, we will review relevant stabilization techniques that are used to tackle such instabilities. The course consists of a combination of presentations and hands-on coding exercises in which the various methods are discussed and implemented within a basic finite element solver using Python.\n\n\nInformation about SDL Fluids

SUMMARY:Parallel Computing with MATLAB
DESCRIPTION:The successful cooperation between HPC.NRW and MathWorks enters the next round in 2025! In a practical four-part workshop series\, everything revolves around High Performance Computing (HPC) and modern software development with MATLAB and Simulink. \nThe first workshop ‘Parallel Computing with MATLAB’ offers an introduction to parallel computing directly on your own computer. Participants will learn about important concepts and constructs such as parfor\, parfeval and parsim in order to efficiently parallelise MATLAB code. The use of GPUs and working with clusters and cloud resources will also be covered. Hands-on exercises in the MATLAB Online Classroom accompany the workshop and make it easier to get started in practice. \nDate: Online via Zoom – link after registration\nLanguage: English\nTarget group: Students\, researchers and scientists with increasing computational needs\nPrerequisites: MATLAB basic knowledge\, MathWorks account\nInstructor: Dr Thomas Künzel\, MathWorks\nLevel: Beginners to slightly advanced\nCosts: Participation is free of charge. \nFurther information on registration can be found here.
