SUMMARY:[:en]NHR4CES - CFD Training Series: Introduction to Scientific Computing with ParaView[:]
DESCRIPTION:Name: CFD Training Series: Introduction to Scientific Computing with ParaView \nDate: 06.05.2025\, 10.00 am – 5.00 pm \nFormat: Online via zoom \nMore Information & Register \n  \n\n  \nDescription\n\n\nShort abstract:\n\nScientific Visualization allows researchers to gain visual insights into complex data\, that would otherwise be hidden within numbers and models. This is especially true for data describing physical phenomena\, from blood flow simulations to combustion processes. The de-facto standard tool for visualization in these domains is ParaView. It is an open-source\, multi-platform scientific data analysis and visualization tool that enables analysis and visualization of extremely large datasets. \nIn this course\, attendants will learn the basics of scientific visualization and how these can be applied in ParaView\, including filtering\, rendering\, and animating complex data. \nInformation about CSG Visualization

SUMMARY:[:en]NHR4CES - CFD Training Series: Introduction to Discontinuous Galerkin Methods for Flow Problems[:]
DESCRIPTION:Name: CFD Training Series: Introduction to Discontinuous Galerkin Methods for Flow Problems \nDate: 06.05.2025\, 1.00 pm – 5.00 pm \nFormat: Online \nMore Information & Register \n  \n\n  \nDescription\n\n\nShort abstract:\n\nIn this course\, we cover the main building blocks to solve fluid flow problems using the Discontinuous Galerkin (DG) method. The course consists of a combination of presentations and hands-on exercises in which a simple DG flow solver is implemented and run on some test cases within our open-source code framework BoSSS. \nInformation about SDL Fluids

SUMMARY:Introduction to Research Software Development with MATLAB
DESCRIPTION:The successful collaboration between HPC.NRW and MathWorks is entering its fourth round! An exciting series of workshops on MATLAB\, Simulink and High Performance Computing awaits you again this year. \nThe second workshop in the ‘Parallel Computing with MATLAB’ series is aimed at young scientists who regularly develop software themselves in their day-to-day research. It teaches the basics of good programming practice: from clean code structuring and version control with Git to unit tests and reproducible working environments. The aim is to prepare participants for the collaborative development of maintainable research code projects. \nDate: Online via Zoom – link after registration\nLanguage: English\nTarget group: Students\, researchers and young scientists with previous knowledge of MATLAB\nPrerequisites: MATLAB basic knowledge\, first programming experience\, MathWorks account\nInstructor: Dr Thomas Künzel\, MathWorks\nLevel: Advanced beginners\nCosts: Participation is free of charge. \nFurther information on registration can be found here.
