DESCRIPTION:Parallel Programming in Computational Engineering and Science 2010\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHPC Seminar\nMonday\, March 22\, 11:00 – Friday\, March 26\, 2010\, 15:30\nin the Center for Computing and Communication\n\n\n\n\n\nAfter the HPC Seminar … \n          …please tell us how you liked it on the feedback form (the input is visible to the public) or send e-mail to hpcevent@rz.rwth-aachen.de.\n\nIntroduction\n\nThis event will continue the tradition of previous annual SunHPC events and last year’s PPCES event  taking place in Aachen since 2001. We keep continuously changing the format a little bit over the years. This year we are going to include a half day workshop on GPGPU programming for the first time. \nAs usual\, we will cover parallel programming using OpenMP and MPI in Fortran and C/C++ with a focus on the Linux and Windows Platforms.\n\n\nStarting on Monday we will give basic introductions into the programming development environments on these platforms which are available for the lab exercises during the following days. For those who feel comfortable with one platform\, this will also be a nice opportunity to get hands on the other one. \nTuesday will be dedicated to message passing with MPI and on Wednesday will cover shared memory programming with OpenMP. On Thursday we will focus on performance tuning issues while on Friday we will concentrate on GPGPU programming issues.\n\nYou can register for all five days separately so that you can choose your favourite topics. Of course you are welcome to register for all five days.\nParticipants\nAttendees should be comfortable with C/C++ or Fortran programming and interested in learning more about the technical details of application tuning and parallelization. DESCRIPTION:Parallel Programming in Computational Engineering and Science 2009\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMonday\, March 23 – Friday\, March 27\, 2009 \nCenter for Computing and Communication\nRWTH Aachen University\nSeffenter Weg 23\n52074 Aachen\n \n\n\nKindly supported by:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n(*) We like to draw your attention to a presentation by Horst Simon (University of California Berkeley) on Monday morning on Future Directions in High Performance Computing 2009-2018 in the SuperC\nIntroduction\nThis event will continue the tradition of previous annual SunHPC events taking place in Aachen since 2001 which have been organized by the RWTH Aachen University and Sun Microsystems. We keep continuously changing the format a little bit over the years. Since we are moving from UltraSPARC based machinery to Intel Xeon bases hardware in our Center\, we are also shifting the focus of the tutorials from Solaris towards Linux and Windows.\nWe will cover parallel programming using OpenMP and MPI in Fortran and C/C++ on Linux\, Windows and Solaris platforms.\nStarting on Monday afternoon\, we will give basic introductions into the programming development environments on these platforms which are available for the lab exercises during the following days. Those who feal comfortable with their favourite platform are welcome to skip these basic introductions on Monday afternoon and arrive on Tuesday morning. For those who feel comfortable with one platform\, this will also be a nice opportunity to get hands on the other ones.
