Eduroam, e-mail, VPN, high-performance computing and many more. Students and employees can easily use the electronic services of RWTH Aachen University.
But is it as easy for visiting scientists, external doctoral students, cooperation partners as well as other external persons? Clearly yes!

But how?

Through the RWTH partner procedure!

In order to use the services and to get access to the Identity Management, a RWTH-Partner-Sponsor relationship has to be established. So the external person has to find a sponsor for the RWTH services.

Who can be a sponsor?

Sponsors can be all RWTH scientific and non-scientific employees who have an employment contract with Department 8. Furthermore, the sponsor should be associated with the same institute or organizational unit as the external partner.

What is the procedure?

The procedure is designed in such a way that RWTH partners can be registered in Identity Management as easily as possible.

For this purpose, the sponsor generates a coupon code via the Partner Manager, which the partner can use to register via ConnectMe. The partnership is limited to a sponsor period. This can be reset and also terminated by the sponsor at any time. The current maximum value of the sponsorship period is one year. Once the registration is done, the RWTH-Partner can use the services of the RWTH.

The RWTH-Partner-Sponsor-Relationship has been established!

But what happens if the sponsor leaves RWTH or no longer has sponsor eligibility?

Don’t worry, the RWTH-Partner-Sponsor relationship does not expire immediately. The RWTH partner has 30 days from that point to find a new sponsor. If the search was successful within 30 days, the new sponsor must issue a new partner coupon. After successful redemption by the RWTH partner with his existing user name, service continuity is ensured and the RWTH services can continue to be used.

All important information on the process, the rights and obligations of sponsors and partners, and further explanations are now defined in more detail on IT Center Help.
