With this blog post, we are starting our series of articles on the subject of Vocational Training – Management Assistants for Dialogue Marketing. This is an apprenticeship that you can complete exclusively at our IT Center at RWTH Aachen University. One exception is the Uniklinik RWTH Aachen, which, however, follows a separate process.

Today we start with a profile of this vocational training. In our upcoming posts, you will get detailed information on the application process and insights into the daily life of an apprentice from one of our current apprentices. In the final part of the blog series, which we will split into two articles, we will present you the impressions of former apprentices in their position as permanent employees.*

About Us

In our department Service & Communications, or SeKo for short, we work in three groups with different focuses:

  • IT-ServiceDesk
  • Knowledge Management and Processes
  • Marketing and Event Management.

Our diverse team consists of about 60 people, including apprentices, student assistants and permanent employees. We are the only department at RWTH Aachen University that trains management assistants for dialogue marketing, or DiMa for short.

Our main task across all groups is to provide first-level support by telephone, in person, and in writing, and thus to ensure the availability of the IT Center at RWTH Aachen University.

What You Can Expect

Communicating, organizing, planning, and documenting are just a few keywords that fill the vocational training, in addition to handling exciting projects and using modern communication technology. You will chat, blog, and get in touch with our customers via social networks. During your vocational training, you will also have the opportunity to get to know other departments of the IT Center in a specially tailored exchange program and, above all, to focus on the business aspects of your vocational training.

What We Expect From You

We are looking forward to your teamwork and communication skills as well as customer-oriented and commercial thinking. You should also have a secondary school leaving certificate.

The Training Lasts This Long

An exciting 36 months. A shortening is also possible.

You Will Work Here

Our main offices are located at Seffenter Weg 23, where we have an open-plan office that we mainly use for IT support and three other offices, all equipped with modern workstation equipment. A popular contact point for personal support is our office in SuperC. You will attend school training for theory classes twice a week in Cologne.

How to Apply

In our next blog post in this series, we will report in detail on the application process. If you would like to find out more in advance, take a look at the RWTH Aachen website under Applying for a Vocational Training Spot.

The most important things in advance: Your application should include a letter of application, your CV (without a photo), and copies of your last two school certificates.

The deadline for applications is May 31, 2023, so the earlier you submit your application, the better your chances of getting a spot.

We look forward to you stopping by the IT Center Blog for upcoming blog posts about the DiMa vocational training as well.

    Weiter so!
