We also take a look back and take you with us as we review the year 2021&#8230;<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Reasons to celebrate<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Throughout the year there were always reasons to celebrate!<\/p>\n<p>For example, there were a few &#8220;birthdays&#8221; and in May 2021 it was &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/05\/31\/2-jahre-rwthmoodle\/\">Happy Birthday, RWTHmoodle<\/a>!&#8221;. We also had something to celebrate in July: our documentation portal<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ITCenterRWTH\/status\/1418496109341675524\"> IT Center Help had its one-year anniversary<\/a>. In addition, we were pleased and excited about the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/09\/10\/nhr-verein\/\">founding of the NHR e. V. association<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/08\/02\/verein-moodle-an-hochschulen\/\">RWTH&#8217;s participation in the founding of the &#8220;Moodle at Universities&#8221; association<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the summer there was a brief step towards a bit of normality:<br \/>\nIn July, we had a high <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ITCenterRWTH\/status\/1412348166138122241\">visit from the North Rhine-Westphalian Minister of Finance<\/a>. There, the NRW Finance Minister Lutz Lienenk\u00e4mper was able to visit the CLAIX-2018 and the AixCave, among other things, during a tour of the IT Center.<\/p>\n<p>In September, two more events took place on site: The <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/10\/08\/nhr4ces-teamevent\/\">NHR4CES team event<\/a> and the welcoming of the new MATSE trainees at the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/09\/17\/erstievent2021\/\">MATSE ErstiEvent<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, the IT Center also shines at digital events, as was recently proven in March 2021:<br \/>\nAfter all original plans for a presence event had to be thrown overboard, the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/04\/21\/zki2021_nachbericht\/\">ZKI Spring Conference at the IT Center<\/a> became an online event that is second to none!<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of events: The IT Center launched the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/07\/26\/eine-plattform-alle-events\/\">IT Center Events pages<\/a> in mid-2021. Curious about what else is coming?<\/p>\n<p>And there was something else to celebrate:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/07\/06\/acht-nfdi-konsortien-mit-rwth-beteiligung-werden-von-der-dfg-gefoerdert\/\">Eight NFDI consortia with RWTH participation were funded<\/a> by the DFG! The IT Center is involved in the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/07\/27\/wer-ist-eigentlich-nfdi-matwerk\/\">NFDI-MatWerk<\/a> consortium and is delighted about the funding!<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Things are in motion!<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Nothing is as constant as change. This is also the case at the IT Center: A lot has happened in 2021!<\/p>\n<p>We welcomed <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/05\/10\/coscine-die-neue-integrationsplattform-fuer-forschungsdaten\/\">Coscine<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/10\/06\/rwthjupyter-service\/\">RWTHjupyter<\/a> as new additions to the group of services. The <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc?s=Archivmigration\">archive migration<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en?s=Datensicherung.NRW\">Datensicherung.NRW<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc?s=IDM.nrw\">IDM.nrw<\/a> projects have reached new milestones. Important questions about <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc?s=5G\">5G<\/a> and the associated project were addressed. The NHR4CES merger introduced <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/09\/22\/nhr4ces-news\/\">new project categories for HPC project proposals<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>With the current pandemic and the latest major cyberattacks, IT security is playing a bigger role than ever in our everyday lives. Of course, the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc?s=IT-Sicherheit\">IT security awareness campaign<\/a> cannot be missing from the year in review!<\/p>\n<p>In May, the &#8220;Microsoft Federal Contract 3.0&#8221; brought us a major change. Because as of May 1st 2021, the previous licensing models for Microsoft products were changed &#8211; true to the motto &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en?s=Alles+neu+macht+der+M%28a%29icrosoft\">Everything is new with M(a)icrosoft<\/a>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>GigaMove has become <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/06\/09\/gigamove-2-0\/\">GigaMove 2.0<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/07\/13\/neues-layout-fuer-den-passwortreset\/\">PasswordReset<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/10\/11\/selfservice\/\">Selfservice<\/a> have a new design since this year. In the course of the network renewal, the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/04\/28\/digitaler-tk-antrag\/\">telephone application<\/a> was changed from analogue to digital.<\/p>\n<p>We also gave you a glimpse into the future: As a foretaste of the relaunch in 2022, you can already test the new <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/11\/03\/relaunch-rwthapp\/\">RWTHApp<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Since February 2021, when you contact our IT-ServiceDesk, you will be guided through a so-called Interactive Voice Response (IVR). The reason: the new <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/01\/25\/omnichannel\/\">omnichannel system<\/a>! In addition, the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/01\/29\/neue-feedback-funktion-bei-support-anfragen\/\">feedback function for support requests<\/a> was introduced.<\/p>\n<p>You also have to be able to let go!<br \/>\nAfter we said <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2020\/07\/29\/byebye-tim\/\">goodbye to our TIM system<\/a> last year, it was time to say <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/10\/25\/tim-kennung-ade\/\">goodbye to the TIM-ID<\/a> in 2021!<\/p>\n<p>And last but not least: After 14 long years, the old learning portal <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/06\/30\/goodbye-l2p\/\">L2P was switched off<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The IT Center &#8220;behind the scenes\u201d<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>In the still-Corona year 2021, we have again reported on the things that make the IT Center the IT Center: The people.<\/p>\n<p>After celebrating <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/03\/15\/365-tage-homeoffice\/\">the first anniversary of working in the HomeOffice<\/a> in March, we celebrated a <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/07\/01\/digitales-sommerfest-2021\/\">digital IT Center summer party<\/a> in June. We cheered on the European Football Championship and organised an <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc?s=IT+Center+EM+2021+R%C3%A4tsel\">IT Center EM 2021 riddle<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And then there is almost a bit of normality again: <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/09\/08\/matse-rwth-aachen\/\">MATSEs completed their training<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ITCenterRWTH\/status\/1435900678174646273\">new number crunchers are coming<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc?s=Onboarding\">onboarding blog series<\/a>, new employees and their &#8220;digital&#8221; entry into the IT Center were introduced. In addition, our trainee <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/en\/2021\/04\/20\/mein-blindenhund-und-ich\/\">Tim B\u00f6ttcher told us about his guide dog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Soon it will be &#8220;Same procedure as last year, Miss Sophie?&#8221; and the year 2022 will begin.<\/p>\n<p>We look back with pride on 2021 and look forward to the coming year!
