In preparation for student life and processes at RWTH Aachen University, there were many speeches and a diverse framework program. The IT Center was happy to be a part of it again: Our colleague Linda J\u00f6rres gave a talk on &#8220;Making Use of IT Services&#8221; via Zoom session. Around 430 people used this to find out about the IT Center&#8217;s basic IT services.<\/p>\n<p>Individual questions could then be answered on site in the foyer of the Audimax at the Freshers&#8217; Fair. This was the information market where students could inform themselves about the different institutions and facilities at RWTH Aachen University.<\/p>\n<p>Our colleagues Tugce Arslan, Linda J\u00f6rres and Daniel Malenkovic were there to help and advise. Below we give you an overview and further information about the most important IT services of the IT Center and the central systems:<\/p>\n<h4>IdM ConnectMe Coupon Code<\/h4>\n<p>A good connection is the best start!<\/p>\n<p>In order to register in the Identity Management (IdM) of the RWTH and to get a username with which you can log in to a variety of IT Services of the RWTH you need to redeem the <a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/rhb2fhkpjhb7\/article\/89aa6792566e4d89b4e249a9d0e0c6f4\/\">IdM ConnectMe Coupon Code.<\/a> If you have applied for a study place at RWTH, you will receive the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/rhb2fhkpjhb7\/article\/9722f84c23dd471cb99de96101c3aec8\/\">coupon code for students<\/a>\u00a0a few days after your enrollment has been confirmed. If you are employed at RWTH, you will receive the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/rhb2fhkpjhb7\/article\/aa308792191f45428679e85e0faa37eb\/\">coupon code for employees<\/a>\u00a0from the Human Resources Management of department 8.<\/p>\n<h4>IdM Selfservice<\/h4>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rwth-aachen.de\/selfservice\">IdM Selfservice<\/a>\u00a0offers many possibilities for you: There you can\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/rhb2fhkpjhb7\/article\/05e8ebbe0121433e9efa4c8114f3622a\/\">change your personal data<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/rhb2fhkpjhb7\/article\/6bb72bcccb2c48e9805238b3131f62b2\/\">change your passwords<\/a>\u00a0or even\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/rhb2fhkpjhb7\/article\/afa7857832624a8fa5c35a77ebf25cc8\/\">create an account<\/a>. You can also apply for your\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/rhb2fhkpjhb7\/article\/4ab6340c22ac486cbf2be44352a6fff5\/\">BlueCard<\/a>\u00a0and upload the corresponding picture in the Picture Manager.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that the IT Center cannot provide general information about the issuance or processing status of your BlueCard. In this case, please contact the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rwth-aachen.de\/cms\/root\/Studium\/Im-Studium\/Praktisch-im-Alltag\/~eif\/BlueCard\/?lidx=1\">RWTH BlueCard Service Point<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>RWTH E-mail<\/h4>\n<p>The central means of communication during your studies at RWTH Aachen University! Make sure you check your e-mails regularly, so you are always informed. You can check your e-mails\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/1jefzdccuvuch\/article\/802fe1ead6b74f3aaab06a8d48079df6\/\">via browser<\/a>\u00a0or with an app of your choice. On\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/1jefzdccuvuch\/\">IT Center Help<\/a>\u00a0we have provided you with instructions on how to set up various apps under \u201cUsing e-mail apps &gt; Installation e-mail clients\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that before using the RWTH e-mail address, a <a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/rhb2fhkpjhb7\/article\/6bb72bcccb2c48e9805238b3131f62b2\/\">password has to be set<\/a> in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rwth-aachen.de\/selfservice\">IdM Selfservice<\/a> for the &#8220;RWTH Service&#8221; account.<\/p>\n<h4>VPN<\/h4>\n<p>\u2026 stands for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/vbf6fx0gom76\/\">Virtual Private Network<\/a>.. It allows you to connect from your home network to the RWTH network. For some systems this connection is a prerequisite. Do not forget: First set a password for the VPN account in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rwth-aachen.de\/selfservice\">IdM Selfservice<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>How to set up the VPN correctly and connect? Under \u201cConfigure VPN\u201d on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/vbf6fx0gom76\/\">IT Center Help<\/a>\u00a0you will find illustrated instructions for the different operating systems.<\/p>\n<h4>eduroam<\/h4>\n<p>\u201cHome is where the Wifi connects automatically\u201d \u2013 who doesn\u2019t know it?<\/p>\n<p>To make sure that this is also the case for you in Aachen, you need eduroam access data. You can create them via the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/b3d9a2c8ae5345b8b8f5128143ef4e3c\/article\/d29381b5c47543e9b47bba1a561388c2\/\">eduroam device manager<\/a>: Either for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/b3d9a2c8ae5345b8b8f5128143ef4e3c\/article\/dca3196d60fc4bfe9b76cc381b65b248\/\">device you are currently using<\/a>\u00a0or for a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/b3d9a2c8ae5345b8b8f5128143ef4e3c\/article\/7eb236ff17c4454ea072a4db412ed201\/\">different device<\/a>, for example, if you want to connect your laptop to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/b3d9a2c8ae5345b8b8f5128143ef4e3c\/article\/cbaa4207a17643ebb3347d62ce021336\/\">eduroam<\/a> in addition to your smartphone. You can also<a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/b3d9a2c8ae5345b8b8f5128143ef4e3c\/article\/6fd2a13990be40439a4bd56a3fa1c62e\/\">\u00a0change or delete the eduroam access data<\/a>\u00a0in the eduroam device manager.<\/p>\n<p>Please have a look at our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/c\/ITCenterRWTHAachen\">IT Center YouTube channel<\/a>, where you will find a video that explain step by step\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=I_GX0YFnMaA\">how to create access data in the eduroam device manager<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>RWTHonline<\/h4>\n<p>Not a service of the IT Center, but a central system at RWTH Aachen University. <a href=\"https:\/\/online.rwth-aachen.de\/RWTHonline\/ee\/ui\/ca2\/app\/desktop\/#\/login?$ctx=lang=en\">RWTHonline<\/a> is the central campus management system of RWTH Aachen University. You can use it to organize your studies, such as registering for courses and exams. The login is done via RWTH Single Sign-On. Since RWTHonline is the heart of studying and teaching, RWTH Aachen University has set up its own <a href=\"https:\/\/wiki-intern.rwth-aachen.de\/\">RWTHonline Wiki<\/a>. \u00a0Important: To access the content, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/vbf6fx0gom76\/\">VPN<\/a>\u00a0has to be switched on!<\/p>\n<h4>RWTHmoodle<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/moodle.rwth-aachen.de\/?lang=en\">RWTHmoodle<\/a>\u00a0is the central, web-based teaching and learning platform of RWTH Aachen University. What does this mean for you?<\/p>\n<p>On RWTHmoodle you will find materials to accompany your courses and e-tests can also be held there. What you will find there is decided by the contact persons of the respective courses \u2013 so don\u2019t be alarmed if the courses look different. You can\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/8d9eb2f36eea4fcaa9abd0e1ca008b22\/article\/9e974e65be75495294fbe4191119e90b\/\">log in via RWTH Single Sign-On<\/a>\u00a0with your username and password.<\/p>\n<p>You are attending a pre-course?
