As of <strong>March 23, 2023<\/strong>, the account &#8220;RWTH Service&#8221; will be renamed &#8220;<strong>RWTH-E-Mail<\/strong>&#8221; and the account &#8221; L\u00b2P&#8221; will be renamed &#8220;<strong>RWTH Collaboration&#8221;.<\/strong> What the name changes mean for you and what the background for the renaming is, you can find out in this blog post! (*)<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #00549f;\">Goodbye RWTH Service &#8211; Hello RWTH-E-Mail!<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>RWTH Service stands for the &#8220;RWTH-E-Mail-Account&#8221; and enables you to communicate across organizations at RWTH Aachen University. The service, managed by the IT Center, includes the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provision of e-mail functionality<\/li>\n<li>Calendar and appointment management functions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As a RWTH student you will receive a <a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/1jefzdccuvuch\/article\/0d74763f4fb6455b8d73f9fbf42da52f\/\">private RWTH e-mail address<\/a> in the form Firstname.Lastname@rwth-aachen.de automatically after your enrollment when you redeem the <a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/rhb2fhkpjhb7\/article\/9722f84c23dd471cb99de96101c3aec8\/\">Connect-Me coupon<\/a>. Behind this is none other than the former teaching and learning portal L\u00b2P account.<\/p>\n<p>The L\u00b2P account is currently still created automatically for students and employees, and as part of most coupon procedures. In the past, the account was required to log in to the learning platform RWTHmoodle, which was new until then. However, this link has been obsolete since <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/2019\/01\/25\/bye-bye-l%c2%b2p-hello-rwthmoodle\/\">L\u00b2P was shut down in 2021<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, the L\u00b2P account in the IdM Selferservice has merely been the authorization to access various Sharepoint applications. This is the central role that ensures that the SiteCollection settings are properly configured. It includes creating the &#8220;look and feel&#8221; for the SiteCollection, adding users and permissions, customizing lists and libraries, monitoring activity, and communicating with users.<\/p>\n<p>Another great advantage of SharePoint is the ability to edit documents directly using <a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/1k25jzmmepjcj\/article\/a3c2da9b0769485f92ee56db07cb6952\/\">external applications<\/a>. You don&#8217;t need to download and upload files, but work with locally installed applications such as Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Office PowerPoint and Microsoft Office Excel. To do this, you connect to SharePoint and in no time at all you can edit documents in a streaming manner.<\/p>\n<p>On IT Center Help you can find more information and a <a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/1k25jzmmepjcj\/article\/5182bebce1cb43a78226e0a2ae273412\/\">list of functions<\/a> for your own SharePoint SiteCollection.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #00549f;\">What does the renaming mean for you?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Nothing will change for you, except for the name.
