It allows you to connect from your home network to the RWTH network. For some systems this connection is a prerequisite. Do not forget: First set a password for the VPN account in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rwth-aachen.de\/selfservice\">IdM Selfservice<\/a>!<br \/>\nHow to set up the VPN correctly and connect? Under \u201cConfigure VPN\u201d on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/vbf6fx0gom76\/\">IT Center Help<\/a>\u00a0you will find illustrated instructions for the different operating systems.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #00549f;\">Multifactor-Authentication<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Services that require a higher level of security, such as the VPN or self-service, are additionally secured with another factor, <a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/0f861f53818c44e9a5df6ea7b244dacd\/\">multi-factor-authentication. <\/a>In addition to the password, which is set for the VPN in the self-service, a so-called token must also be set up in the <a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/0f861f53818c44e9a5df6ea7b244dacd\/article\/0fa5126d3130400081afd532660e5b7b\/\">token manager<\/a>. You can find the token manager in your Selfservice.<br \/>\nThere are several tokens to choose from, such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/0f861f53818c44e9a5df6ea7b244dacd\/article\/a2e415d3b5ce44ecbd7e6de569c396a3\/\">TAN list<\/a> or the <a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/0f861f53818c44e9a5df6ea7b244dacd\/article\/1ad13927e7804b709a484327c832b34d\/\">Authenticator app<\/a> for your smartphone. This gives you additional protection alongside your password.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #00549f;\">RWTH-E-Mail<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The central means of communication during your studies at RWTH Aachen University! Make sure you check your e-mails regularly, so you are always informed. You can check your e-mails\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/1jefzdccuvuch\/article\/802fe1ead6b74f3aaab06a8d48079df6\/\">via browser<\/a>\u00a0or with an app of your choice. You can use it to organize your studies, such as registering for courses and exams. The login is done via RWTH Single Sign-On.
