In this article, we will give you an overview of how the migration works, what you should bear in mind and what changes you will have to expect.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #00549f;\">How Does the Migration Work?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>All research data that you have previously stored on the RDS via Coscine will be migrated to the new DataStorage.nrw storage system by the IT Center RWTH. So you don&#8217;t have to worry about anything &#8211; the migration will be carried out entirely by us. The RDS includes both locally connected storage systems (e.g. RWTH-RDS, UDE-RDS) and the shared NRW-RDS. The migration is being carried out step by step, site by site, to ensure a secure and orderly transfer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #00549f;\">What Exactly Does This Mean for You?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>During the migration, the affected research data must not be changed, as this could interrupt the process. Therefore, the relevant resources in Coscine will be temporarily unavailable for the duration of the migration. You will be informed in good time before and after the migration of your data so that you can plan the period of unavailability into your work processes.<\/p>\n<p>Once the migration is complete, you will have unrestricted access to all data and metadata again.<\/p>\n<p>The changes at a glance:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In future, the name of the resource type will be <strong>nrw<\/strong> instead of RDS.<\/li>\n<li>If you use an S3 resource, the endpoint will change. Remember to take this into account in your S3 clients and scripts and adapt them if necessary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #00549f;\">How Does It Start?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The migration starts with the data stored on the RWTH site.
