However, all systems were fully online again shortly after 10 pm &#8211; a smooth process without a roll-back.<\/p>\n<p>Our colleagues from the Networks department \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/cms\/it-center\/it-center\/profil\/team\/~epvp\/mitarbeiter-campus-\/?gguid=PER-EB7A3US&amp;allou=1\">Benedikt Paffen<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/cms\/it-center\/it-center\/profil\/team\/~epvp\/mitarbeiter-campus-\/?gguid=PER-6AYL3GF&amp;allou=1\">Christoph Viethen<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/cms\/it-center\/it-center\/profil\/team\/~epvp\/mitarbeiter-campus-\/?gguid=PER-KG3RV39&amp;allou=1\">Robin Westarp<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/cms\/it-center\/it-center\/profil\/team\/~epvp\/mitarbeiter-campus-\/?gguid=PER-H2FTH4Z&amp;allou=1\">Nils Neumann<\/a> \u00a0&#8211; worked under high pressure to ensure that everything ran smoothly and successfully. The team was supported by the IT-ServiceDesk on-call team, represented by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/cms\/it-center\/it-center\/profil\/team\/~epvp\/mitarbeiter-campus-\/?gguid=PER-XXDV8TJ&amp;allou=1\">Sarah Grzemski<\/a>. A team effort &#8211; the realisation was outstanding and shows once again what is possible with good cooperation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #00549f;\">Why Was This Changeover Necessary?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>By switching to the Catalyst 9600, RWTH Aachen University is setting new standards in its network infrastructure:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>More performance &amp; stability: faster fault detection and greater reliability<\/li>\n<li>Future-proof: state-of-the-art technology for future requirements<\/li>\n<li>Sustainability: reduced energy consumption despite higher performance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #00549f;\">What Does This Mean for the Future?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The successful migration is an important milestone in the ongoing development of RWTH&#8217;s digital infrastructure.
