Den Auftakt des Eurographics Worskhops bildete die Keynote von Alejandro Frangi zum Thema \u201eLarge-scale precision imaging: from imaging phenomics to in silico trials\u201c. Der Inhaber des Lehrstuhls Computational Medicine von der University of Leeds erm\u00f6glichte dabei Einblicke in den aktuellen Forschungsstand im Bereich der computergest\u00fctzten Bildanalyse- und Modellierungsmethoden unter der Verwendung von Gesundheitsdatenbanken. Ebenso wie der Fortschritt wurden auch neue Herausforderungen sowie er\u00f6ffnete M\u00f6glichkeiten f\u00fcr die Gemeinschaften der International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention (MICCAI) und Visual Computing for Biology and Medicine (VCBM) zum Besten gegeben.<\/p>\n<p>Das Workshop-Programm der VCBM, die in diesem Jahr zusammen mit der gro\u00dfen MICCAI-Konferenz stattfand, wurde durch anschlie\u00dfende Vortragsreihen der von Experten aus den jeweiligen Disziplinen erg\u00e4nzt.\u00a0 Mit dem Fokus auf dedizierte Anwendungsbereiche in Medizin und Biologie berichteten die Vortragenden \u00fcber neueste Erkenntnisse in den Bereichen Biologie, Deep Learning sowie Interaktion und Evaluation.<\/p>\n<p>Der Capstone-Vortrag von Katja B\u00fchler (VRVis Research Center Wien, \u00d6sterreich) und Torsten Kuhlen (VR RWTH Aachen University, Deutschland) bildete dabei einen gelungenen Abschluss. Mit ihrem Beitrag zum Visual Computing in der Neurowissenschaft wurden aktuelle Trends und Herausforderungen dargestellt, die die Potenziale spezieller Anwendungsm\u00f6glichkeiten aufzeigen. Im Mittelpunkt der Forschenden steht dabei die Komplexit\u00e4t des menschlichen Gehirns und dessen Arbeitsweisen. Dabei zeigen neue Herangehensweisen an das neurowissenschaftliche Datenuniversum bisher ungeahnte M\u00f6glichkeiten auf, dem Mysterium \u201emenschliches Gehirn\u201c ein ganzes St\u00fcck n\u00e4herzukommen. The Eurographics Worskhops started with Alejandro Frangi&#8217;s keynote speech on &#8220;Large-scale precision imaging: from imaging phenomics to in silico trials&#8221;. The chief of the Chair of Computational Medicine, University of Leeds, provided insights into the current state of research in computer-aided image analysis and modeling methods based on the use of healthcare databases. Apart from the innovations, new challenges as well as opportunities for the communities were discussed at the International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention (MICCAI) and Visual Computing for Biology and Medicine (VCBM).<\/p>\n<p>The workshop program of the VCBM, which took place together with the big MICCAI conference this year, was supported by a subsequent lecture series held by experts from the respective disciplines. With a focus on dedicated application areas in medicine and biology, the speakers reported on the latest findings in the fields of biology, deep learning and interaction and evaluation.<\/p>\n<p>The capstone talk by Katja B\u00fchler (VRVis Research Center Vienna, Austria) and Torsten Kuhlen (VR RWTH Aachen University, Germany) successfully concluded the program. Their speech on visual computing in neuroscience presented current trends and challenges that highlighted the potential of special applications. The researchers are focusing on the complexity of the human brain and its ways of working.
