Can I continue to use the products?<br \/>\n<\/b>The Microsoft products can still be used. However, as of 31st\u00a0May\u00a02021 at the latest, they will only be available on the RWTH tenant (login with the @rwth-aachen.de address) as a web application &#8211; i.e. via the browser. This means that the products can no longer be\u00a0installed\u00a0locally on the computer as an app.<\/p>\n<p><b>Is product XY affected by this? Which products are affected?<br \/>\n<\/b>The Microsoft license change affects all Microsoft products that were previously available on the RWTH tenant.<br \/>\nThis includes the\u00a0Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) as well as all files\/documents stored at Microsoft (e.g. in OneDrive or\u00a0Sharepoint).<\/p>\n<p><b>What is a tenant?<br \/>\n<\/b>A &#8220;tenant&#8221; is an organizational customer account at Microsoft, through which Microsoft can assign or provide products to the respective customers.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"TextRun SCX204279633\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCX204279633\">Which tenants are available at RWTH Aachen University?\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCX204279633\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-8753 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/files\/2021\/04\/Tenants-RWTH-EN-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/files\/2021\/04\/Tenants-RWTH-EN-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/files\/2021\/04\/Tenants-RWTH-EN-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/files\/2021\/04\/Tenants-RWTH-EN-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/files\/2021\/04\/Tenants-RWTH-EN.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Will my data be deleted? Do I have to back up my data? <\/b><br \/>\nDon&#8217;t worry, your data will not be deleted. However, we recommend that you always back up data from the tenants locally, as these are Microsoft products and changes in the range of functions can be made by Microsoft at any time.<\/p>\n<p><b>Do I have to save my data on the computer before I can upload it to a new tenant?\u00a0<\/b><br \/>\nIf the data is located on a particular tenant, it cannot be accessed via another tenant.<\/p>\n<p>In this case, the data must be saved once locally on the computer and uploaded again in the other tenant. The backup of the data is not done by RWTH.<\/p>\n<p><b>Can I still receive or send e-mails via my @rwth-aachen.de e-mail address?<\/b><br \/>\nThe <a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/1jefzdccuvuch\">RWTH e-mail<\/a> address itself is not affected by the license change. E-mails can still be received and sent.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"Employees\"><b>Employees<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b>What will change for employees?<\/b><br \/>\nThe range of functions for RWTH employees on the tenant for employees (login with\u00a0something@m365.rwth-aachen.de) will initially remain unchanged (<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/2020\/04\/03\/microsoft-teams-fuer-mitarbeitende-der-rwth-aachen\/\">MS Teams use<\/a>). Work is currently underway to expand the range of functions for employees.<\/p>\n<p><b>Can I continue to use Microsoft Teams?\u00a0<\/b><br \/>\nFor the time being, Microsoft Teams can continue to be used both as a web application &#8211; via the browser &#8211; and locally on the computer as an app.<br \/>\nTo do this, log in either in the <a href=\"https:\/\/teams.microsoft.com\/\">browser\u00a0<\/a>or in the Microsoft Teams app with &lt;egal@m365.rwth-aachen.de&gt; an. You will then be redirected to the <a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/service\/rhb2fhkpjhb7\/article\/2cf300c672914715a0670959f4c5d286\">RWTH Single Sign-On<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"Students\">Students<\/h3>\n<p><b>What will change specifically for students?<\/b><br \/>\nFrom the beginning of May, RWTH students will also be able to use Microsoft products locally as a desktop application on their computer via the tenant for Students (log in with egal@students.rwth-aachen.de).<br \/>\nStudents can already create an account on this tenant\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.rwth-aachen.de\/itc\/2021\/02\/01\/microsoft-365\/\">since September 2020<\/a>. There, Microsoft products can already be used online as a web application.<br \/>\nInstructions\u00a0on how to\u00a0create\u00a0an account are available on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.itc.rwth-aachen.de\/service\/45a46cf5bd114e65bac6b437fc18657e\/article\/a34f5137fd33455c9eff44c12d9827ad\">IT Center Help<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Can I continue to use Microsoft Teams?\u00a0<\/b><br \/>\nAs of May, Microsoft Teams can be used via the <em>tenant for students<\/em> (log in with egal@students.rwth-aachen.de) both as a web application &#8211; via the browser &#8211; and locally as a desktop application on the computer.<br \/>\nFor collaboration with colleagues, student assistants also have the option to use MS Teams via the <em>tenant for employees<\/em> (log in via @egal@m365.rwth-aachen.de).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"Alumni &amp; UKA employees\">Alumni &amp; UKA employees<\/h3>\n<p><b>Can the license be renewed?
