IT Center Changes

Image Analysis, Formula Rendering, and GPT-4o Mini

Features:

  • Uploaded images can now be actively analyzed by the AI in terms of content
  • Prompts issued by RWTHgpt can now be copied directly to the clipboard
    • To do this, hold your mouse cursor over a message written by RWTHgpt and select the copy icon at the bottom right of the message
    • The message is then copied to your clipboard and can be pasted using the “Right-click” / “Paste” dialog or the “Ctrl” and “V” key combination
  • You can now render (mathematical) formulas, for example for the LaTeX software

Language models:

  • GPT-4o mini is now available (as default)
    • This model allows more interactions (1000 per hour) with slightly limited functionality
  • An overview of the existing ChatGPT models, their functions and differences can be found here

Bugfixes and Improvements:

  • Deleted chats no longer remain visible in the navigation bar
  • The reply text generation of RWTHgpt for longer replies can now be interrupted without issues
  • The design has been harmonized and improved across the board
    • Error messages have been adjusted and should now better summarize why an error has occurred
  • RWTHgpt can now handle pasted code better and perform more tasks with it
    • Code pasted into prompts or output by RWTHgpt now has better syntax highlighting
  • Database query performance has been improved

HPCWORK Now Offers Increased File Quotas

Dear CLAIX Users

As you might remember, in April, we transitioned the HPCWORK directories to a new Lustre-System. This new system provides significantly greater file quotas. We are pleased to announce that you now have a default quota of 1 million files.

We hope this enhancement makes your workflows easier and more capable.

Features:

  • All functions that are available at the start of the RWTHgpt service can be viewed under RWTHgpt features.

Language models:

  • ChatGPT-3.5 and ChatGPT-4o are available at the start of the service
  • Depending on the selected language model or AI tool, there are different interaction limits

[CLAIX-2023] Update to Rocky Linux 8.10

The RWTH Compute Cluster CLAIX-2023 was updated to Rocky Linux 8.10 due to the end-of-life of Rocky 8.9 ensuring the availability of continuous security and bugfix updates to the system.

Detailed changes from Rocky 8.9 to Rocky 8.10 can be read from the Rocky Linux relase notes.

Note: Please keep in mind that due to the update, the measurable performance may vary compared to previous compute jobs due to changed library and application versions included in the updated system.

Release Notes Version 2.17.1 – Calendar function enhancements

  • “Today” button was added to the calendar’s day view

  • Your location is now updated when using the map
  • The ccroll position after navigation has been improved, especially in the calendar
  • Various bug fixes

Final decommision CLAIX-2018

All remaining CLAIX-2018 (login and backend nodes) have been decommissioned now. There are only the following exceptions:

  • login18-4 and copy18-1 stay online for integrative hosting customers. All others should use the new CLAIX-2023 dialog systems.
  • login18-g-1 stays online until login23-g-1 is available again (compare maintenance page).
