🧪 Chemical Analytics
For our research projects in the Teaching and Research Area of Structural Polymer Composites, a wide range of modern analysis and testing methods is available. These enable us to comprehensively characterize materials, from their chemical structure to their mechanical and thermal behavior.
Our analytical and material characterization methods include, among others:
- Infrared spectroscopy
- Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC)
- Thermogravimetry with IR coupling (TGA-FTIR)
- Dynamic vapor sorption (DVS)
- Electrochemical methods (EIS, CV)
- Rheological investigations
- Light / polarization / fluorescence microscopy
- Ion detection
- Determination of thermal conductivity
- Chitosan analysis
This is complemented by application-oriented testing methods:
- Fire testing methods (UL94, LOI)
- Tribological properties (e.g., adhesion and sliding friction)
- Gloss measurements
- Tensile and compression testing
- Building physics investigations
🏭 Polymer processing at laboratory scale
In addition to analytical capabilities, we have a complete process chain for the production of composite materials at laboratory scale. This includes:
- Rolling mill, kneader, and extruder
- Heated press for shaping
- Cutting mills and pelletizers in various sizes
This allows us not only to analyze materials, but also to specifically develop and process them.
