Journal Club
You can either choose to be a regular Journal Club participant who works through a paper, or an author, who provides a paper. By providing a paper you will take the role of a moderator of an up-to-five person group, who will work through your paper under your moderation.
You will have the unique chance to guide fellow participants through your research and receive valuable feedback on your style of writing as you watch your group work its way through your paper.
The goal of this Journal Club is to extract the core points of your paper, put them into perspective and explain them to the audience on the next day by your colleagues in a plenum following the Journal Club reading event. There is no need to create extraordinary, beautiful slides. Bullet points should be enough, but you are welcome to be as creative as possible.
The format of the Journal Club paper presentation the following day is as follows: Each group is allowed to present a paper in five to ten minutes. While the author is not allowed to participate in the presentation itself. Though, s/he is allowed to participate in the discussion afterwards.

Social Program
The scientific program of the YIC GACM 2015 is surrounded by a variety of social events, namely:
– a city tour and reception on Sunday, July 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.,
– a public lecture by Fabian Hemmert (Design Research Lab, Berlin University of the Arts) on Monday, July 20 in the evening,
– a movie night on Tuesday, July 21 at 8:00 p.m.,
– a science slam on Wednesday, July 22 at 8:00 p.m.,
– and the conference dinner on Thursday, July 23 at 8:00 p.m..
Please let us know during registration whether you would like to participate in these events, which are all included in your conference fee.
Child Care
Together with the „Family Services Center“ of RWTH Aachen University, we will be providing child care for conference participants who travel with children. During the scientific program, your children will be attended to. If you would like to use the childcare option, please let us know through your registration form. This service will be free of additional charge for you. Contact the conference secretariat if you have any questions.
