RWTHtransparent 2026 – A Review

On January 30, 2026, as part of the “RWTHtransparent” event, RWTH Aachen University opened its doors to visitors once again, offering them a behind-the-scenes look at the university. The event showcased developments and successes from the past year and provided insights into planned projects. Love Data Week 2026 – Time for Data Love

The Love Data Week (LDW) is taking place again this year. Every February, this week of action focuses on the conscious, structured, and sustainable handling of research data. Under this year’s motto, “Where’s the Data?”, the entire life cycle of data is considered, from planning, collection, and analysis to publication, archiving, and reuse.

Coscine was also represented with a poster at this year’s Conference on Research Data Infrastructure (CoRDI). The poster showcased Coscine’s participation in the European FAIR-IMPACT Support program, which assists research data infrastructures in implementing the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable). RDM Platform Coscine – More Than Free Quota

On 25 August 2025, an online workshop on Coscine will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The research data platform supports researchers in managing their data in a structured manner, creating projects and storing data securely – and much more than just storage space.
In the workshop, which is part of the modular advanced training series RDM II, participants will learn in a practical way how they can use Coscine to make research data findable, accessible and sustainable in accordance with the FAIR criteria (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).
The workshop is aimed at doctoral candidates, postdocs and research assistants who would like to deepen their knowledge of research data management.
Prerequisite is basic knowledge of research data management, which can be acquired, for example, in the Moodle course ‘Research Data Management – an Overview (RDM I – online)’.
Participation is free of charge. Registration is via the RWTH Single Sign-On or externally. The access link will be sent by email approximately three days before the event begins.

RDM Network Meeting in June 2025: Coscine in Practice

In June, a special session titled ‘Coscine in Practice‘ was held in the ‘Online topic special’ format. The event provided Coscine users, interested parties, and RDM Network Meeting participants with an excellent opportunity to share their experiences and learn from each other.
Storage Change in Coscine – DataStorage.nrw

With DataStorage.nrw, a new storage system will soon be available behind Coscine, replacing the previous Research Data Storage (RDS). This step does not only bring technical improvements but is also a strategic further development as part of the implementation of fdm.nrw’s RDM state concept.
Coscine Workshop for Metadata Profile Creation

In this workshop, we will show you how to create metadata profiles in Coscine using the Metadata Profile Generator (AIMS). The workshop will take place online via Zoom in English on June 6, 2025, from 10am to 12pm and builds on the Coscine Basic Workshop.
