RDM platform Coscine – more than free quota!
Contemporary research involves conscious research data management (RDM) with the aim of generating high-quality research data and keeping it sustainably (re)usable, i.e. findable, accessible and understandable (FAIR-criteria). The RDM platform Coscine – Collaborative Scientific Integration Environment—supports you in this and helps you meet the requirements of research funders and comply with Good Research Practice.
This event is part of a series of in-depth modules on RDM (FDM II – modular). The basics on RDM are covered by the Moodle course “Research Data Management – an Overview (RDM I – online)”. Please use this course as introduction to RDM.
Learn about the RDM platform Coscine with all its features. Understand how Coscine supports you in making research data FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) and in meeting the expectations of research funders.
That Was the Young Academics Day 2024
On September 5, 2024, it was that time again: the RWTH Young Academics Day (YAD) for young academics took place in the SuperC of RWTH Aachen University. PhD students and postdocs at RWTH were invited to network, exchange ideas and reflect on their own career paths and decisions through inspiring lectures, as well as to be inspired by the services offered by RWTH. The RDM team from RWTH was also there to present the services of research data management (RDM) at the “marketplace”.
BUILD ON DATA Conference Proceedings Published

Source: baureka.online
Last year, we reported on the community conference “Auf Daten bauen // Build on Data” organized by the DFG project baureka.online. The two-day conference, which took place on May 4 and 5, 2023 in Berlin, was aimed at people who deal with historical building fabric, collect digital data on built objects and are interested in effective research data management in historical building research and monument preservation. An open access publication has now been published for the conference in May 2023, which we would like to report on in this article.
Coscine & fdm.nrw in the FAIR-IMPACT Support Programme

Source: FAIR-IMPACT
The application of Coscine in cooperation with fdm.nrw to participate in the FAIR-IMPACT Support Programme for repositories and data service providers has been successfully confirmed. This inclusion in the second call for Route 1 expert support marks an important step for both organizations and the further development of their services.
Read this blog post for more details about the program and its goals and challenges.
Central RDM Services at the RWTH: AIMS – Application Profile Service
This article is part of our series “Central RDM Services at RWTH Aachen“. It is intended to show our researchers – i.e. you – which RDM services are offered at RWTH Aachen University to support you in your research and data management. We talk to the people responsible for the services and collect all the information for you in the individual articles. In this article, we would like to introduce you to the RDM service “AIMS”.
FAIR Digital Objects and Their Significance for Research Data Management

In today’s research, the correct handling of data is of crucial importance. The amount of research data is growing exponentially, and with it the need to manage this data efficiently and sustainably. This is where the FAIR principles come into play: Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Re-Usable. These principles provide a common basis for handling research data and make it possible not only to store data, but also to make it usable and accessible. FAIR Digital Objects (FDOs) are a concept that transfers these principles to the digital world.
Workshop on the Management of Research Data (RDM II-Compact)

Research data management (RDM) is an essential part of modern science and research. In order to optimally prepare researchers at RWTH Aachen University for the challenges of handling research data, we offer the RDM II compact workshop once a year. This one-day hands-on workshop takes place on site at the University Library and is aimed at anyone who would like to deepen their knowledge of research data management.
