This door is not so much a gift for you, but rather one you can give us, because we are looking for student assistants for mentoring!

Student mentoring in the cooperative study programme Electrical Engineering with orientation semester (FH/RWTH) in summer semester 2021

We are looking for committed mentors for the student mentoring of the cooperative study programme Electrical Engineering with Orientation Semester (ETOS).

The mentors support the students in their orientation at the university in the first semester, in exploring the subject Electrical Engineering, as well as in deciding on the right university. Supporting students in the areas of appropriate learning behaviour at university level and self-management also plays a decisive role.

Qualified mentors are characterised by excellent social skills, a good overview of the organisational structure of their own degree programme and their own university, the ability to work together in a cooperative effort, and the desire to think outside the box and learn new things with the mentees.

Interested students must be students of electrical engineering at RWTH Aachen University.

One FH and one RWTH mentor each will lead their group through the summer semester as a mentoring tandem. Your obligations include:

  • Participation in the preparatory training of the mentors in March 2021
  • Weekly group appointments with the mentees
  • Preparation of the above appointments and debriefing in accompanying supervisions (90 min. each week)
  • During the orientation semester, the mentors are the students’ first point of contact, which is why they are also responsible for answering questions at short notice and passing on urgent information quickly.

Scope of contract:

March to July 2021 with the scope of 6-8 hours per week as a student assistant with tutoring activities.
Interested parties please contact until 31.12.2020

This Christmas campaign aims to fulfil a Christmas wish of children, adolescents and young adults who are cared for at the Burtscheid Youth Welfare Centre due to stressful life experiences.

For 13 years now, the RWTH Chair of Economics for Engineers and Natural Scientists has been organising this Christmas campaign together with the Rotaract Club Aachen. This year, Professor Malte Brettel, RWTH Vice Rector for Economics and Industry, will hand over the presents to the Youth Welfare Centre before Christmas.

The best part? Everyone can take part! Pick a wish, enter your contact details and confirm your selection. The gift worth about 20 Euros should be sent to the chair by mail by Friday, 11 December 2020, so that it arrives at the Youth Welfare Centre in time.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year, the list of Christmas wishes (de) is available online

Anyone is invited to participate. Just select a present from the list, enter your contact details, and confirm by clicking “Ich möchte mitschenken”. Please send your gift (each is worth about 20 euros) by post to:

RWTH Aachen

Please send your gift by Friday, 11 December 2020.
