Research without digital data has long since become unthinkable. Many different tools and programs are sometimes used to collect, process and organize data. The programs differ not only due to different subject areas and data types, but also with regard to the respective phase within the research data life cycle: starting with data collection, through its cleansing and analytical processing, to the publication-ready output of the data including documentation.

And when dealing with research data, many researchers and scientists are also faced with the challenge of storing their research data in such a way that it is structured, documented and secured for subsequent use. Data Literacy and Data Culture Roadmap

Since its adoption in 2021, the Data Literacy and Data Culture Roadmap has been an important component of the data strategy, the new edition of which we have already reported on in the FDM blog. The roadmap developed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is intended to serve as a guide for a digital awakening in Germany and provide orientation for the responsible use of data. We have summarised the opportunities offered by the roadmap for you in this article.
DKZ.2R: Rhine-Ruhr Data Competence Center – Where Ideas Meet code
In March of this year, we informed you in our article that RWTH Aachen University and Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZ Jülich) were involved in the conception phase of the Rhine-Ruhr Center for Scientific Data Literacy (DKZ.2R). Today we would like to inform you that the conception phase has been completed and the DKZ.2R has been launched.
