Call For Papers: Contributions to Data Management Planning Sought

The international Data Science Journal is seeking contributions for a special volume on “Data Management Planning across Disciplines and Infrastructures“. The focus of the contributions should be on working with data management plans and their implementation. Articles can be submitted to the Data Science Journal until November 15, 2022.

New RDM Training Concept at RWTH Aachen University

In April 2022, the RDM team will start a new training format on research data management “FDM II-modular”, offering you two-hour hands-on workshops on focus topics of research data management. The workshops will take place regularly on the 4th Wednesday of the month from 10am to 12 noon.

The RDM team invited to the regular meeting of the Research Data Management (RDM) network on March 9, 2022 and once again data stewards, RDM officers and people interested in RDM at RWTH Aachen University came together again online via Zoom. This time, the participants discussed strategies for introducing data management plans (DMPs) in projects.

The aim of these gatherings is to enable an exchange of frequently asked questions and best practices from RDM and to build a coordinated network at RWTH Aachen University. This time, the RDM team, together with the data stewards, RDM officers and RDM interested parties at RWTH, took a closer look at how the Research Data Management Organiser (RDMO) works.

Nachbericht zum Offenen FDM-Netzwerktreffen am 08. Dezember 2021

Am 08.12.2021 fand das letzte offene Forschungsdatenmanagement (FDM)-Netzwerktreffen dieses Jahres mit dem fast schon traditionellen „Jahresrückblick“ online via Zoom statt. Das FDM-Team schaute zusammen mit den Data Stewards, FDM-Verantwortlichen und anderen FDM-Interessierten der RWTH zurück auf die zehn Sessions in 2021, tauschte sich zu den Plänen für das Jahr 2022 aus und ließ sich in vorweihnachtlicher Atmosphäre zu märchenhaften FDM-Fairy Tales inspirieren.

Wenn Forschungsdaten nicht ausreichend vor unbefugtem Zugriff oder Datenverlust geschützt sind, läuft selbst das beste Datenmanagement ins Leere. Daher sind Backups und Maßnahmen zur Datensicherheit unerlässlich. Je nach Art der Forschungsdaten gelten unterschiedliche Anforderungen. So sollten sensible Daten besonders geschützt werden. Im Allgemeinen gibt es jedoch grundlegende Sicherheitsmaßnahmen, von denen alle, die mit Forschungsdaten arbeiten, profitieren können und um diese soll es in unserem neuen Beitrag der Reihe „FDM erklärt“ gehen.

Nachbericht des RWTH4NFDI-Workshops 2021 – Tag 1

Wie vor einigen Wochen auf dem Blog angekündigt, fand der RWTH4NFDI Workshop nun am 14. und 15. April 2021 statt. Der erste Tag wird hier für Sie zusammengefasst.

Worum ging es?

In einem virtuellen Meeting mit an die 100 Teilnehmenden kam es zu einem regen Austausch verschiedener Konsortien mit RWTH Beteiligung rund um das Thema Nationale Forschungsdateninfrastruktur (NFDI).

Ziele des Workshops waren

  • Austausch und Vernetzung der an der RWTH beantragten NFDI-Konsortien
  • Austausch und Fragen der Beteiligung weiterer Forschende der RWTH
  • Unterstützung des zentralen FDM-Teams und weiterer RWTH Institutionen für die Konsortien
