Where Is the Data? In Coscine, of Course!

“Where is the data?” – This question was at the heart of Love Data Week 2026 and describes a challenge shared by many research projects. Research data is continuously generated, processed, shared, and archived. At the same time, there is a growing need to keep this data findable, traceable, and usable in the long term. With a presentation and a workshop during Love Data Week, Coscine showed how research data management can be implemented in practice in this area of tension.

Love Data Week 2026 – Time for Data Love

The Love Data Week (LDW) is taking place again this year. Every February, this week of action focuses on the conscious, structured, and sustainable handling of research data. Under this year’s motto, “Where’s the Data?”, the entire life cycle of data is considered, from planning, collection, and analysis to publication, archiving, and reuse.

RWTH Aachen University is also celebrating the Love Data Week 2026 with its own contributions. In this blog post, we present the events that will be offered at RWTH during the campaign week.

Storage Change in Coscine – DataStorage.nrw

With DataStorage.nrw, a new storage system will soon be available behind Coscine, replacing the previous Research Data Storage (RDS). This step does not only bring technical improvements but is also a strategic further development as part of the implementation of fdm.nrw’s RDM state concept.

Second Advanced User Meeting of Coscine.nrw

On April 29, 2025, the second user meeting of Coscine.nrw took place. The event not only offered exciting insights into current developments in the research data management (RDM) platform, but was above all interactive. In a creative group work phase, participants jointly developed specific criteria for evaluating storage space requests—an important building block for the review process of the new DataStorage.nrw storage system.
