Metadata Basics and Creating Application Profiles for Coscine
Meaningful and machine-readable metadata are a prerequisite for high-quality and sustainable research data that can be used effectively in line with FAIR principles. Without metadata, research data are worthless. Therefore, meaningful and machine-readable metadata are a prerequisite for high-quality and sustainable research data that can be used effectively. Furthermore, they are a core element of FAIR data (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable).
The research data management platform Coscine allows you to annotate research data with metadata that is suitable for your research. Coscine already provides you with basic application profiles for this purpose. In this workshop, you will learn how to extend these profiles or create your own ones with the help of the Metadata Profile Generator in Coscine.
This event is part of a series of in-depth modules on research data management (FDM II – modular). The basics on research data management are covered by the Moodle course “Überblick zum Management von Forschungsdaten (FDM-I-online)” / “Research Data Management – an Overview (RDM I – online)“. Please use this course as introduction to research data management.
