RDM and Coscine at the “RWTHtransparent”

Last Friday, January 26, 2024, the Rectorate of RWTH Aachen University hosted the annual “RWTHtransparent” event. Armin Maiwald from the show “Sendung mit der Maus” opened the event, which was aimed at guests from business, politics and civil society as well as RWTH employees, to report on current developments and successes at RWTH in 2023. Following the ceremony and the various award ceremonies, around 600 invited guests had the opportunity to take a closer look at the exhibition on research and teaching at the university and get to know various services.

To address these challenges and support young researchers, Young Academics Day was held at RWTH Aachen University’s SuperC on September 5, 2023. Thus, the correct management and publication of research data is also taking on an increasingly important role. Two central concepts in this context are archiving and publishing research data. But what exactly do these concepts mean and how do they differ in the research process? In this article, we take a close look at the differences between archiving and publishing research data.
Online-Workshop Recherche nach Forschungsdaten
Ein neues Projekt baut auf dem aktuellen Stand der Forschung auf. Einen relevanten Beitrag dazu können bereits vorhandene Forschungsdaten – wie beispielsweise Messwerte aus anderen Versuchen, Materialkennwerte, bereits vorhandene Auswertungsskripte oder Umfrageergebnisse – liefern.
Viele Forschungsdaten sind frei zugänglich und können beispielsweise in der DataCite Suche recherchiert werden. Darüber hinaus gibt es aufwändig kuratierte Daten zu denen Sie durch eine Lizenz der Universitätsbibliothek Zugang haben. In diesem Workshop lernen Sie davon überblicksartig Datenbanken für Materialkennwerte (SpringerMaterials und Total Materia) und statistische Daten (Statista) kennen.
Voraussetzung für diesen Workshop ist die Teilnahme am Selbstlern-Kurs „Überblick zum Management von Forschungsdaten (FDM I-online)“ oder „Research Data Management – an Overview (RDM I – online)“
