Follow-up Report on the RDM Network Meeting in April

The last Open Meeting of the RDM network, unlinke past network meetings, was held in Presence on April 12, 2023. Above the rooftops of the city in the conference room of the University Library of RWTH Aachen University, data stewards, RDM managers and RDM interested parties from the university met for the RDM network meeting and to get to know each other.

On May 4 and 5, 2023, the community conference Build on Data – Auf Daten bauen of the DFG project baureka.online on the topic of research data in historical building research and monument preservation will take place in hybrid form. Der Umgang mit Forschungsdaten ist Teil guter wissenschaftlicher Praxis. Promovierende tragen die Verantwortung für Forschungsdaten, die ihre wissenschaftlichen Aussagen belegen. Das beinhaltet insbesondere die Themen Dokumentation, Archivierung und Publikation von Forschungsdaten.

Im Workshop geht es vor allem um den Austausch von Praxiserfahrungen. Dabei lernen Interessierte die Perspektiven Ihre Kolleginnen und Kollegen sowie des FDM-Teams kennen, die Ihnen helfen, ein realistisches Konzept zum Forschungsdatenmanagement zu entwickeln.

Data Competence Center DKZ.2R – The IT Center Is Part of It

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is funding the conception and subsequent establishment of data competence centers for science. Working with research data will continue to be a trend in the future, and for this the planned data competence centers are intended to provide relief for scientists by offering support and networking services. Together with Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ), the IT Center of RWTH Aachen University is involved in the conception phase of the data competence center “DKZ.2R”.

Versionskontrolle mit Git – das richtige Tool für meine Forschungsdaten?

Finden Sie in der Veranstaltung heraus, ob Git das richtige Tool für Ihre Forschungsdaten ist.

Die Veranstaltung ist Teil einer Serie von Vertiefungsmodulen zum Forschungsdatenmanagement (FDM II – modular), die regelmäßig im Monatsrhythmus angeboten werden. Die Module stehen gleichwertig nebeneinander und können unabhängig voneinander besucht werden. Grundlagen zum FDM an der RWTH werden im RWTHmoodle-Kurs „Überblick zum Management von Forschungsdaten (FDM I – online)“ vermittelt.

Im online Workshop werden hands-on einfache Git-Befehle ausprobiert und grundlegende Arbeitsabläufe umgesetzt. Die Arbeit mit Git in der Konsole hilft, ein Grundverständnis für das Tool zu erlangen. Sie werden ausreichend Zeit haben, Ihre Fragen zu adressieren und über Einsatzszenarien und Ihre konkreten Arbeitsabläufe zu sprechen.

Follow-up Report on the Open Meeting of the RDM Network as part of Love Data Week

The week before last was all in the name of love, or more precisely the love of data. For this reason, the regular Open Meeting of the RDM Network took place this time on February 15, 2023 as part of Love Data Week online via Zoom and was not only aimed at the data stewards, RDM officers and RDM interested parties at RWTH Aachen University, but also at external parties. In the meeting, participants were able to learn and exchange information about two approaches to digital support in RDM. You can read this and more in our latest Love Data Week follow-up report.
