Set off on Your Journey – Research Data Day in North Rhine-Westphalia 2026

Research data is part of every project, from the initial ideas to the publication of the results. But how can data be effectively organized, properly documented, securely stored, and quickly retrieved in everyday research? On November 10, 2026, Research Data Day (TdF) in North Rhine-Westphalia will be held under the motto “Set off on Your Journey – Pleasant Travels with your Data” and will offer the opportunity to explore precisely these questions.
RWTH Aachen University will once again be participating. Together with Forschungszentrum Jülich and the Rhine-Ruhr Center for Scientific Data Literacy (DKZ.2R), it invites researchers to discover practical tools, helpful resources, and relevant contacts for their own research journey and to put together their own personal RDM Travel Kit.

Make a note of the second Tuesday in November – November 12, 2024! That’s when the Day of Research Data (TdF) will take place in NRW for the fourth time. This year’s motto is “Into the data garden: make your research bloom”. Be curious and look forward to a blooming and colorful research data garden!
Data Competence Center DKZ.2R – The IT Center Is Part of It

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is funding the conception and subsequent establishment of data competence centers for science. Working with research data will continue to be a trend in the future, and for this the planned data competence centers are intended to provide relief for scientists by offering support and networking services. Together with Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ), the IT Center of RWTH Aachen University is involved in the conception phase of the data competence center “DKZ.2R”.
