All good things come in threes! On November 14, 2023, the Research Data Day in NRW celebrated its third anniversary. Under this year’s motto “Promote and refine data: Bring your data treasure to light”, the state initiative for research data management fdm.nrw invited participants to a digital morning program full of fascinating presentations and lively discussions. One thing became clear: Raw data is the precious cornerstone of all research! Careful maintenance, processing and optimization can work wonders. In this way, simple rough diamonds are transformed into impressive treasures. In this follow-up report, you can find out how these rough diamonds are polished in numerous research institutions and which tools are used in the process.
Follow-up Report on the RDM Network Meeting in October 2023

On October 11, 2023, our open meeting of the RDM network for data stewards, RDM responsible persons and RDM interested persons of RWTH Aachen University took place again. The topic of the meeting was “Export Control and RDM”, presented by Mr. Nicolas Lunz as Export Control Officer of RWTH Aachen University.

On May 31, 2023, Coscine was presented as part of the Coffee Lecture series of the Thuringian Competence Network for Research Data Management. This time, everything revolved around the topic of “FAIR research data management (RDM) from the very beginning”. Coscine offers an innovative solution for storing, managing and archiving research and metadata. On May 10, 2023, the data stewards, RDM officers and people interested in RDM at RWTH Aachen University met again for the regular open meeting of the RDM network online via Zoom. This time, the participants were guided through the most important steps in the FAIRification process using the FAIR Cookbook.

The last Open Meeting of the RDM network, unlinke past network meetings, was held in Presence on April 12, 2023. Above the rooftops of the city in the conference room of the University Library of RWTH Aachen University, data stewards, RDM managers and RDM interested parties from the university met for the RDM network meeting and to get to know each other.
