Research Data – Latest News & Worth Knowing

Love Data Week 2026 – Time for Data Love

February 3rd, 2026 | by

The Love Data Week (LDW) is taking place again this year. Every February, this week of action focuses on the conscious, structured, and sustainable handling of research data. Under this year’s motto, “Where’s the Data?”, the entire life cycle of data is considered, from planning, collection, and analysis to publication, archiving, and reuse.

RWTH Aachen University is also celebrating the Love Data Week 2026 with its own contributions. In this blog post, we present the events that will be offered at RWTH during the campaign week.

For researchers, RDM staff, and anyone who works with research data, this week offers numerous free digital events. The aim is to provide practical insights into research data management methods, tools, and strategies and to promote exchange within the community.

Coscine at Love Data Week

For three consecutive days, the focus will be on the RDM platform Coscine. The formats are aimed at both people who are new to Coscine and experienced users who want to deepen their knowledge:

  • February 9, 2026, from 1 to 3pm: Basic workshop on Coscine – more than just storage space
  • February 10, 2026, from 1 to 2pm: Lecture “Coscine – Perfect Match for Your Research Data”
  • February 11, 2026, from 10am to 12pm: Workshop on metadata basics and metadata profiles

The focus is on how research data can be stored in a structured manner, provided with appropriate metadata, and documented in a way that is understandable in the long term. Registration is via the Coscine website.

Further RDM Contribution by RWTH to Love Data Week

In addition, RWTH is participating in the Love Data Week with its own specialist lecture, “How to Make Your DMP Template Interoperable in RDMO.” The presentation will take place on February 10 from 11am to 12 pm.

The NFDI Basic Service DMP4NFDI team will show how interoperable DMP templates can be designed and implemented in RDMO. The presentation will address typical questions that arise in practice. How can RDMO catalogs be structured in a meaningful way? How can the RDMO Guide help? And how can templates be connected to other services via plugins?

The event is aimed at anyone who works with data management plans or administers and develops RDMO. Registration is via Zoom.
