On January 30, 2026, as part of the “RWTHtransparent” event, RWTH Aachen University opened its doors to visitors once again, offering them a behind-the-scenes look at the university. The event showcased developments and successes from the past year and provided insights into planned projects. It allowed anyone interested to learn firsthand about current research and teaching initiatives.

Once again, the RDM team had its own booth in 2026. Guests at the event were able to find out about the central services for Research Data Management (RDM) services and the RDM platform, Coscine. They also had the opportunity to pick up flyers and small giveaways.

Members of the RWTH RDM team held personal discussions and provided insights into the various RDM services offered by RWTH. Posters showed interested visitors how the Coscine platform helps researchers better manage, secure, and make their data available for future projects in the long term.

In addition to the available information, there was a Coscine and RDM quiz where participants could test their knowledge and learn new things.

Highlights of RWTHtransparent 2026

The stage program once again offered exciting insights into current developments at RWTH. One topic was the Excellence Strategy, which took a lot of effort and time in 2025 but paid off with the funding of three clusters of excellence: CARE (Climate-Neutral and Resource-Efficient Construction), FSC² (Integrated Fuel & Chemical Science Center), and ML4Q (Matter and Light for Quantum Computing). Other highlights of the event included RWTH reviews of 2025 in pictures, the founding of the Faculty of Computer Science, the new “Primary School Teaching” degree program, and various award ceremonies.

As always, guests had the opportunity to explore current RWTH projects focusing on teaching and research and exchange ideas about the university’s work.

Conclusion

This year’s RWTHtransparent was all about innovation and exchange. A lively dialogue developed at the RDM team’s booth around research data management. These encounters demonstrate the dynamism of RWTH and motivate us to continue tailoring our services to the needs of researchers. We would like to thank all visitors for the exchange and look forward to the challenges ahead for RDM at RWTH.

If you have any questions about Coscine or RDM in general, please feel free to contact the RDM team at any time. We look forward to hearing from you!
