Mastering RDM – Learning Opportunities at the RWTH

In complex research processes, it is crucial to maintain an overview of research data and develop effective data management strategies. In addition to RDM tools and services, RWTH Aachen University therefore also offers its researchers courses and workshops on research data management (RDM) in order to develop skills in this important area.
The RDM team relies on blended learning, which combines traditional classroom teaching with digital learning methods. The basics are taught in year-round RWTHmoodle courses, which can be completed at any time and at your own pace through self-study. Building on this, what has been learned can be tested, discussed and deepened in regular workshops. In this blog post, you can get an overview of the RWTH’s RDM continuing education offers.
FDM-Werkstatt 2024 – Registration Deadline Ends Soon!

The registration deadline for this year’s FDM-Werkstatt 2024, which will take place from March 18 to 20, 2024 at the IT Center of RWTH Aachen University, will soon end. Get to know various RDM tools and exchange ideas with like-minded people on all important RDM issues in the community workshop! Take the chance and secure one of the last places.

Research without digital data has long since become unthinkable. Many different tools and programs are sometimes used to collect, process and organize data. The programs differ not only due to different subject areas and data types, but also with regard to the respective phase within the research data life cycle: starting with data collection, through its cleansing and analytical processing, to the publication-ready output of the data including documentation.

Last Friday, January 26, 2024, the Rectorate of RWTH Aachen University hosted the annual “RWTHtransparent” event. Armin Maiwald from the show “Sendung mit der Maus” opened the event, which was aimed at guests from business, politics and civil society as well as RWTH employees, to report on current developments and successes at RWTH in 2023. Following the ceremony and the various award ceremonies, around 600 invited guests had the opportunity to take a closer look at the exhibition on research and teaching at the university and get to know various services.

Data Literacy and Data Culture Roadmap

Since its adoption in 2021, the Data Literacy and Data Culture Roadmap has been an important component of the data strategy, the new edition of which we have already reported on in the FDM blog.
