On April 13, 2022, the data stewards, RDM managers and those interested in RDM at RWTH Aachen University met again for the regular open meeting of the Research Data Management (RDM) network online via Zoom. This time there were two exciting topics: an introduction to the KNIME software and the long-awaited presentation on the dependency analysis of research data at the IoP using GitLab.

New RDM Training Concept at RWTH Aachen University

In April 2022, the RDM team will start a new training format on research data management “FDM II-modular”, offering you two-hour hands-on workshops on focus topics of research data management. The workshops will take place regularly on the 4th Wednesday of the month from 10am to 12 noon.

New DFG Templates for Funding Proposals

At the German Research Foundation (DFG), the topic of research data management (FDM) is becoming increasingly important. When preparing a proposal, you should therefore consider FDM at an early stage. This does not have to be a lot of work. AIMS in Coscine – New Feature Since March 22, 2022

Coscine is in constant development. As of this week, it is now possible to create individual application profiles using the integration of the application profile generator from AIMS. The new feature is primarily aimed at data stewards and people familiar with their domain-specific ontologies. RDM explained – How to Validate Data?

As part of good scientific practice, research data should be stored for up to 10 years. In addition, more and more funding agencies expect information on where the collected data is stored. However, it is neither technically nor economically possible to store all data collected during a research project. Accordingly, it is necessary to carry out a data evaluation after a project has been completed. This forms the basis for deciding which data should or must be archived. Data.rwth Teaching Competition – Designing Teaching Materials for Data Literacy

Follow-up Report on the Open Meeting of the RDM Network on February 9, 2022

The RDM Team invited to the second open meeting of the Research Data Management (RDM) network this year on February 9, 2022 online via Zoom. The two originally planned presentations had to be cancelled due to illness, but the RDM team showed spontaneity and presented the plans for the new FDM continuing education concept at RWTH to the data stewards, RDM officers and RDM interested parties.
